3 Steps To Outstanding Residency LORs

Want To Guarantee That Your Residency LORs Outline Your BEST Qualities? 👇

Outstanding letters of recommendation (LORs) are an integral part of a successful residency match season.

But how can you be sure that your LORs outline the qualities you need them to in order to show program directors that you’re the right person for the job?

You need to control how your LOR writers perceive you…

Here’s a simple strategy to make sure it happens:

1 – DETERMINE WHICH QUALITIES YOU WANT YOUR LORs TO OUTLINE:

First and foremost, you need to know what you want your LORs to say about you so you can control the narrative…

The easiest way to do this is to figure out which qualities you’ll need to have in order to position yourself for success – then to embody them.

Figure out which qualities you need in order to succeed in your desired specialty, then write them out on a piece of paper…

Or setup a daily reminder on your phone with those qualities so you’ll get notified each morning.

2 – REVIEW THOSE QUALITIES BEFORE YOU START EACH SHIFT:

Each day before you start your shift, remind yourself about how it is you want to be perceived.

Refreshing your memory will ensure that you go into each shift demonstrating the qualities that you want your colleagues to recognize in you.

This ensures consistency and eliminates any doubts in your superiors’ minds.

3 – ACTIVELY DEMONSTRATE THE QUALITIES YOU WANT TO BE KNOWN FOR:

If you want your LORs to describe you in a certain way, you need to consistently show it.

Want to be seen as kind, caring, compassionate, and an intensely hard worker? Then you’re going to want to behave that way every single day.

Whatever it is that you want your LORs to say, be sure that you’re consistently demonstrating those qualities for everyone to notice.

There’s no way to get an outstanding, highly personalized LOR unless you’re willing to be consistent with your behavior.

Don’t expect a great LOR if you’re standing at the back of the group and blending in… You need to get noticed!

Put yourself out there… Be a leader… Demonstrate those winning qualities!
