USMLE Step 1 Buzzwords…
Not Dead, Just Different 👇

Twenty years ago, if you knew your buzzwords, you could easily pass the USMLE Step 1 exam.

Over the years, the talk of ‘buzzwords’ has lived on…

Are buzzwords still alive & well… Or are they dead & gone?

Here’s the actual answer: Both

Let me explain…

Buzzwords used to tip you off to the actual answer….

Recognize the buzzword, easily identify the answer.

That’s no longer the case.

USMLE Step 1 questions are 3-4 levels deep…

Buzzwords are still presented in vignettes, but they’re only there to tip you off to the first step of the question – not the answer.

You DO need to recognize buzzwords to get the ball rolling.

So…

If you’re studying your First Aid, reviewing your UWorld or Amboss questions, or just perusing your study notes…

Remember this: Knowing your buzzwords is still a solid use of your time, they’re just not the end of the road (they’re the start).

Study your buzzwords, make sure you know what they’re referring to…

And keep in mind that you can’t stop there, it’s just the start.
